    Watch video/listen to the poem “ We Real Cool”



1.  . Who are the characters in “We Real Cool”? Where does it take place? Does this poem apply to today’s youth?


Audience: Who is the character telling the story to? What do you know about this audience—do they know about the character’s past? Have they heard of the Golden Shovel? What is the audience’s perspective on the past and present of the character?


2. What is the central theme of  the poem “We Real Cool”?

    Write a haiku about the animal you selected.

    Pick a season (Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring)
           Write a Haiku about the season you selected.
